Juicing Update and Other Randomness

So I failed on keeping the juicing part of this up. We live outside right now in beautiful weather so the desire to stay seated at a computer is not a large one. Happy kids, 70 degree days, parks, hiking and changing leaves. I may have purposed to blog 3 times a week but....reality is....life happens, weather gets pretty and outside is much more fun than a screen before you.

Brief juicing update...
Let it be known that the remedy for fruit flies has been found. Placing a small compost bucket...or in our case, one of the 10 bathroom puke cans that were purchased for our spontaneous trip west....directly outside of kitchen door will draw every fruit fly out of the kitchen and outdoors where compost is located. This freedom from the fruit fly plague is sheer bliss. However, let it also be known that if said bucket is not emptied into far away composting pile each day that not only will fruit flies gather there but so will every bee, wasp, ant, crawling and flying insect of every size within a 5 mile radius.

My energy level is impressively up and there's been a drop of another 7 lbs for a grand total of 12. Size 8's are super loose so 6's may just be realistic. Haven't worked up the nerve to try just yet. And....kids are well and staying well!!!! Juicing...liquid vitamins!

Outside my window...
beautiful children running on gravel road in orange light of sunset....holding hands, laughing. Dogs barking, dump truck playing babies in dirt at gate waiting for day they can join street races and basketball fun.

I am thinking....
that babies should just go from bottle or boob straight to adult drinking cup. I just really hate sippy cups...finding them, washing them, cleaning spouts.....finding them, washing them cleaning spouts.... finding them, washing them, cleaning spouts. Did I mention finding them????

I am  thankful....
for how faithful God is to come changing hearts when we choose to stay so fully surrendered to Him. What was supposed to bless neighbor landlord by loving him unconditionally has not only changed his heart but entire family's as well. Relationship forever changed because of a little red mailbox, a ceiling fan, a few axed trees, some raking, and the willingness to put in some floors and love in tangible ways. How surrounded by love our family is....and how much easier it is to love when being the hands and feet of Jesus. Heart change in so many ways for so many people.

I am wearing....
nothing sexy.

I am hearing...
Marry Me by Martina McBride/Train. A favorite.

I am pondering....
that just maybe you're baby #11 when your head has been sharpie markered.

I am reading....
Dave Ramsey. Life saving, life altering, financial guidance plan. So amazingly humbled and thankful for even having an income. How amazing it has been to survive 6 months of being jobless and learning intimately as a family what it is to live a George Mueller life. It is humbling to now be in a place that enables us to implement a course of action and take control of finances. How thankful I am to finally be settled here, blessed beyond measure with a stable, familiar, paramedic income of husband's, and know that we will not only survive...but thrive....in this new place. Financial Peace University...it's an amazing thing. No bankruptcy, no house foreclosure, a plan to conquer the debt and once more attain a debt free life.....and stay that way for good!

I am wondering....
if a highschool science experiment is capable of producing sonic worthy booms then what level of noise college experiments must entail. I am quite certain that homeschooling my own children is just as much fun, if not more so, than my own homeschooling experience of childhood. Not exactly the ATI part...but the hands on life experience portion that is capable of resulting in screams of shock and rolling laughter.

I am hoping...
that I never take a shower as cold as today's showering experience. Winter with no shower door in a space meant to house a basketball team is just a little bit chilly. And when the hot water runs out cause you failed to time it correctly between dishwasher and washing machine....it makes for an Antarctic showering experience.

I am going...
to go thin some more of the forest, prune some bushes and pick up sticks....and yes...I took a shower before I head outside.

I am smelling....
.....so I just added this for the sheer fact that I can smell again and the novelty has yet to wear off....
a fire in the fireplace and husband-made jumbalaya. Smells of home and warmth and us.

I am noticing...
that our taste in music is a bit diverse. In the time it took us to run errands we listened to Eminem, Flo Rida, Mozart, Keith Urban, Zac Brown Band, Jeremy Camp, MercyMe, and David Crowder Band.....not entirely in that order.

I am remembering....

All of Ivye in her Ivyeness...

whining...."I haven't gone cause I haven't went yet!!"

"You're the big, HUGE-ER princess!! And daddy's the little tiny king. You will save the kingdom cause you're soooo huge-er."

"You need to put two baby girls in your stomach so they can come out and share the new highchair with "Wincoln Gates".....and so he can have sisters."
.....guess the 3 he already has don't count.

On my mind....
that I've got a pretty beautiful life. Humbled by the grace and unfailing mercy of God that can bring us from where we've been to where we are now.

Life in pics....

Yet more of the treasure journey. Out with the old broken, molded sliding bathtub door. Still awaiting the purchase of a new, clean, fresh, good smelling shower curtain. No more stink and no more mold!

7 months!!!

Blurry but so crazy sweet
...and yep....there's a blanket fort going on in the background.

Lookin a little bit like his siblings. How loved this boy is. When you've got 12 other people loving on you, you just can't help but be smiley.

How many meals a day are you drinking juice? Are you replacing a meal for the kids with juice or just adding juice to one of their meals? I love reading your blog and now it is even more exciting with you juicing!

I'm glad that you love to read. Kinda feels like family after awhile. :) I juice for breakfast and lunch and then do a veggie dinner, which is usually a roasted vegetable or huge salad. I found that with no protein my bp was always seriously low...like, too low. I added protein into the evening meal and it took care of it. Right now the protein usually consists of boiled eggs with the salad or broiled fish. I put cottage cheese on the salad not long ago and that was great. If it's not packed FULL of protein I don't eat it....so that's where the eggs, cottage cheese and fish come in. I stay so full from juicing that usually by dinner I'm still not very hungry. But I feel better if I eat.

Kids drink it as a midmorning snack...usually when I'm doing my breakfast juice. I did a fruit smoothie for breakfast a few mornings in a row so I just made sure that when I juiced that afternoon they got some then. But usually they get a huge glassful mid morning as a "snack". I don't really measure it.... just pour a big cup for each one of them. As long as they get to help make it they all drink it. They each put in guesses as to what color it's going to turn out that day. Lol. But so far green in a novelty and doesn't seem to dampen their appetite for it. If they drink juice at 10 they're usually not hungry for lunch til 1 so it buys me a little time that way too.

It really is amazing. I've gotten my smell and taste back after almost 2 entire years without it, have had no more sinus infections or bronchitis, and kids are staying well. I still have a few trouble spots of exema but the majority of that is even gone. We took them off of supplemental vitamins and now just juice. I had NO clue it would render such results. I went into it just figuring I was going to be a little healthier. Lol. Happy juicing!! It really is worth it.
