Because I've learned to see I've had the greatest teachers of all time. And we've learned the absolute power this truth holds. Each and every teacher we have had....they are who taught us how to live out the law of love in ways I thought unimaginable. We've learned to give tangibly, to meet needs, to transcend, and know all those that seek to inflict hurt...they hurt too. It's taught us empathy, compassion, kindness...but, most of all, it's taught us how to love. Love without borders, without limitations, without criticism, without judgement, without expecting others to live up to some preconceived expectations I have set, or that I personally feel a certain doctrine or theory implies. It's taught me how to forgive all that was unintentionally inflicted.....and all that was very much intentionally inflicted. And it's taught me how to see the soul behind the eyes, instead of the offense.
Forgiveness......
it's a word tossed around like a rag doll in religions, something so common it's not even given depth anymore. And to those outside of a religious belief system...it's scoffed and laughed at due to the reputation it's been given by those religiously engaged. It's become a sign of weakness and perceived as the offender having walked away in victory. But, there could be no greater misconception....no greater liberator. It spans the world...every race, every religion, every ethnicity, every belief system. It is the journey of leaning how to love...and finding abiding happiness.
Forgiveness...there is no greater path to freedom. It is the embodiment of liberation. Because we know intimately what it is to live this out. The last 5 years....they've been amazing. Difficult in every sense...but worth it all to know this place in life. No longer entangled by the web of insecurity, jealousy, grudges, spiritual angst and strife, anger....no longer entangled by unforgiveness. To fly free from the rubble below....and just be happy. To go where the people dance.
"Consequently, I found myself angry and bitter. I would talk bad about them to others. And it even became difficult to sleep or be happy. I was obsessed. It was 9 months later when it finally happened. After reading this quote on the back of a flyer lying on the ground of a parking lot.
'Forgiveness is like letting a prisoner free,
and finding out the prisoner was you.'
And so it began. I made the tough emotional decision to let it pass. To let myself free and be joyful once again." *
