Barnyard Baby

Well, after never really completing the nursery when Gavin arrived and it being so expensive for each and every piece I decided to try and go a different route this time. I cannot justify ever spending a fortune on a nursery nor do we have the money for it in the least. So, in my restlessness to either finish what we started or do something completely from the beginning I figured a way out to change the theme yet completely finish it from top to bottom for a fraction of the cost of what it would be otherwise. We still came out cheaper than finishing the orginal thing we started with Gavin. I still would love to finish that out and someday we will eventually. But for now, I found this entire set on Ebay for only 65.00. It retails for over 400.00 if you buy it all new in the store. I debated for a long while back in the day if I wanted to do a nursery in this. But it seems fitting now with our change of life and what we have acquired within the past 2 years. Thankfully, it has no kittens in the collage of farm animals! I think the children are having as much fun with this as I am and have already declared that that is no horse in the decor but a donkey! And with our chicks due to arrive this week and a coming cow and goats it seemed only fitting to have some barnyard babies. I'm excited. Brad's going into town with us on his next 96 to pick out paint colors. Right now I don't even have a clue. I think it'd be fun to do a barnyard mural across the walls but unfortunately I don't think I inherited any of Granny's artistic skills. I don't think any of us would want to see the finished results if I tried my hand at mural-ing a wall! So, I'm thinking, maybe stencils. It's very much a babyish nursery and not quite where I was headed with the seaside thing that was never finished. But it'll be fun to have a true baby room and the children can hardly wait. I think I may do the window valances out of a coordinating solid color and save the true valances that come with the set to make them into the canopy for the crib. After not spending much thought on actually having Ivye here it's beginning to get me going and excited over the reality of yet another tiny new one all over again....a girl at that!
